Chapter 91: ASH-SHAMS (THE SUN)

سوره 91: الشمس

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

به نام خداوند رحمتگر مهربان

by the sun and its midmorning, (1)

سوگند به خورشید و تابندگى‏اش (1)

by the moon, which follows it, (2)

سوگند به ماه چون پى [خورشید] رود (2)

by the day, when it displays it, (3)

سوگند به روز چون [زمین را] روشن گرداند (3)

by the night, when it envelops it! (4)

سوگند به شب چو پرده بر آن پوشد (4)

by the heaven and who built it, (5)

سوگند به آسمان و آن کس که آن را برافراشت (5)

by the earth and who spread it, (6)

سوگند به زمین و آن کس که آن را گسترد (6)

by the soul and who shaped it (7)

سوگند به نفس و آن کس که آن را درست کرد (7)

and inspired it with its sin and its piety, (8)

سپس پلیدکارى و پرهیزگارى‏اش را به آن الهام کرد (8)

prosperous is he who purified it, (9)

که هر کس آن را پاک گردانید قطعا رستگار شد (9)

and failed is he who buried it! (10)

و هر که آلوده‏اش ساخت قطعا درباخت (10)

thamood belied in their pride (11)

[قوم] ثمود به سبب طغیان خود به تکذیب پرداختند (11)

when the most wicked of them broke forth, (12)

آنگاه که شقى‏ترینشان بر[پا] خاست (12)

the messenger of allah said to them: '( this is) the shecamel of allah, let her drink. ' (13)

پس فرستاده خدا به آنان گفت زنهار ماده‏شتر خدا و [نوبت] آب‏خوردنش را [حرمت نهید] (13)

but they belied him, and hamstrung her. so their lord crushed them for their sin and leveled it (their village). (14)

و[لى] دروغزنش خواندند و آن [ماده‏شتر] را پى کردند و پروردگارشان به [سزاى] گناهشان بر سرشان عذاب آورد و آنان را با خاک یکسان کرد (14)

he does not fear the result (of their destruction). (15)

و از پیامد کار خویش بیمى به خود راه نداد (15)
